Lifepath Unlimited – The Legal Issues Facing This Industry

Lets get dangerous if you will………

The FTC and PYRAMID SCHEMES……You want to know the loop hole around the legal description, that allows most NM companies to exist ? they often include the jargon “WE ARE A DIRECT SELLS COMPANY” somewhere in their mission statement as well as in the new recruits user agreement.

Accompanied by OUR Associates are not compensated solely for recruiting…..THIS MAINTAINS THE DIRECT SALES ASPECT, in legal terms. It is also often requested that all marketing materials be void of dollar amounts….Or ANY CLAIMS TO FINANCIAL FREEDOM………….YES LEGAL ON THE OUTSIDE……..But what about once you are in…………………….

now before I begin, I am not an opponent of NM, MLM, but I am also not a PROPONENT OF SHALLOW STRATEGY “PROVEN SYSTEM” methods.

EVERY OPPORTUNITY IN THIS INDUSTRY IS A GREAT ONE….THEY ARE IDENTICAL TO MANY DEGREES…WMI, LLI. EPI, So on so forth….HELL EVEN THE MARKETING Curriculum is the same……..

YAY, RAH, HO, HUM. TIME TO POSITION YOURSELF………………

Once an affiliate you get on the calls…..How much of it is focused on the direct sales aspect…How much of it is based on the product, how much of it is based on sales training, marketing training, PRODUCT TRAINING ? [jeopardy theme song playing]

The answer is the sole reason why the FTC, has come to play……

I work with many individuals across the industry that fail to realize 1 thing….THEY HAVE A GREAT PRODUCT….Sure they say it, but don’t believe it enough to actually sell IT……

WHAT ENDS UP HAPPENING IS….the newly recruited distributor is armed only with a dream.. the YAY, RAH, HO, HUM, if you will.

All they can do is sell a lifestyle, and the AMOUNT OF MONEY THEY MADE OR PLAN TO MAKE biggrin

Wether a direct or indirect earnings claim….it would sound the same to anyone….EVEN THE FTC……………………………………….

This means the companies are at fault, not for bad product, bad compensation plan, or bad affiliates……but negligent of the responsibility to properly coach, train, and MAINTIAN THE DIRECT SALES approach sworn across the companies corporate website……

OTHERWISE….5 to 10 years is your window of opportunity to capitalize, before your company GOES SOUTH…….

Lifepath Unlimited – The Art Of Prospecting

I’m finding that more of my clients are placing some or all the responsibility of prospecting on their salespeople. Although some salespeople say it’s not their job, they are expected to prospect and to prospect successfully.

Effective prospecting is a critical component of sustainable sales success. However, prospecting is not selling. You may be a well-trained and/or experienced salesperson. But your training may not have included prospecting. Or perhaps you never prospected at all. In either case, read on.

The output of prospecting is a list of qualified leads that may buy your product or service. Selling begins only after a lead is categorized as qualified. If you start selling too early, you run the risk of pigeonholing your products and services before you have the opportunity to understand your prospect’s requirements. That generally leads to commoditization–where price becomes the most important buying criteria.

Winners understand that, as with effective selling, prospecting should not be done by the seat of one’s pants. You need a plan. That means an objective assessment of your situation, a goal, and resulting strategies and tactics to achieve that goal. So if you aren’t comfortable with prospecting or haven’t had to do it, I would like to share with you my plan that has worked for many of those winners:

ASSESMENT
When designing a prospecting process you’ll need to take a comprehensive as well as objective look at your individual situation. Here are eight of the considerations for filling the “new business” pipeline:

What are the key characteristics of your territory? Customers, references, competition, supplier market share, etc.

Where and how does your product or service best fit? In which companies, markets, geographies?

To what degree is your company name or brand recognized by your potential market?

How effective have you been at prospecting? Do you have the skills, tools, and determination to make it work? Has your company provided the training you need?

What have been your traditional sources of business leads: blind RFPs, referrals, networking, business partners, your company’s telemarketing function? What statistics can you find that will provide you with guidance on where your efforts should be best invested?

What has been your conversion rate? That is how many leads does it take to create a new customer?

How much potential business is out there for you, based upon your analysis of your territory?

What are your current time commitments to customers, internal meetings, etc.? Realistically, how much time can you dedicate to prospecting?

STRATEGIES……..

Qualify, qualify, qualify! I’ve seen salespeople waste incredible amounts of time trying to convince prospects to buy something from them without ever really asking the tough questions. A few of the key criteria in obtaining your leads are: identification of decision makers, current supplier situation, their financial situation, decision timeframe, and price as a buying criterion. Remember, “Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation leans on the doorbell.”

Commit to following up. Lots of opportunities are lost because the salesperson gets distracted or simply does not keep on top of potential business opportunities. Have your follow-up materials at hand and make sure you record next steps into your calendar, CRM software or contact manager.

Make prospecting a quality, not a quantity effort. Sure, you are going to have to make a certain number of contacts, by phone, by mail, in person to come up with one good lead, but if you focus on activity rather that productivity, you’ll be left with very little for your efforts. After all, you most probably don’t get paid for the number of calls you make. You get paid for how much you sell.

Be prepared. Make sure you know and have responses to all the common objections posed by your potential customers. Those should gracefully be turned into benefits wherever possible.

Provide value at every point of contact. Think: Why should this person speak with me, provide me with information, meet with me, buy from me?

Take notes. Record key points. It will improve your efficiency and build your credibility with prospects when, during the next call, you can recite what they said last time.

Invest the time for tracking and measurement. You can’t improve what you don’t measure.

Lifepath Unlimited – The Anatomy Of A Sale

If you are not turning 75 to 100 leads per day, skip this post, as it focuses not on marketing but the anatomy of a sales call.

75 to 100 leads per day is bare minimum, as most should expect anywhere from a 3 to 9% close rate. (Some industries are notably higher) Anything less than the suggested amount of leads will cause a slight deviation in numbers.

So these are the pre-requisites now let’s close.

First before getting on the phone, you need to imagine:

Imagine success. We are taught by design that this is a numbers game, but you need to maintain that mental image of success from call to call. This will hinder any feelings of excitement, frustration, fatigue, or stress. Because you have focused a specific mental state, of success.

It’s incredible how the ear/brain interprets sound, and then translates it into a message.

By example: say this “Hi my name is ________, and I am calling you today…..” Say it with a really excited pitch….say it while feeling groggy,….Say it as if you are irate……Same thing being said, but how it is said creates never ending connotations of the same message.

So before you get on the phone, imagine every call a success, you can do this through self affirmation. Look at yourself in the mirror, scold that reflection in the mirror as if you were scolding a child. Demand success, with conviction, realize that business building is only a call away. And in all reality this is the truth.

Intro:

Funny how most go straight into the conversation with a script that usually goes like this….

” Hi my name is _________ and I am calling you because you responded to an ad of mine about getting started in a home based business,………………………”

This is a flawed introduction, because it is quite possible that that prospect forgot about the AD, filed out many opportunity pages, and has heard the pitch before, and probably know the script better than you do .

Something concise and more direct, and brief is preferred.

E.g. “Hello ____________, my name is _________ the reason for this call is you expressed sincere interest in a better life correct ?

who would say NO ??????

Now time to ASK:

Usually after their answer, I say ” I don’t want to take too much of your time, so lets keep this short”

What’s going on in your life that you feel you need to make better? (Peer into their lives a bit, build credibility)

Very open ended….”trust me the answer is very long, some tend to vent……” BUT YOU SHOULD BE TAKING NOTES”

LISTEN:

This will tell you if the prospect is qualified or not. Terms like lost job, behind on bills, struggling financially (not in any liquid situation)….Automatic disqualifiers, and YOU NEVER NEEDED TO ASK……

Qualified individuals will usually lead you on with ” I have been looking………………..”

But listen to their reasons for looking, their objectives, and goals, listen intently.

Selling:

Is merely a confirmation of their belief, you see people buy things for their reason and their reason ONLY.

Everything you heard them say in the listen phase you confirm, make them say it again, make them “feel” everything they are saying, this is often the environment when decisions are made.

It’s that little dark lonely corner, with the back against the wall. But it’s not a pressure sale…”WHY?” because you didn’t pressure them, they pressured themselves

(kind of like your 15 year old who wants a pair of sneakers SO BAD….the true reason is not that they are cool, but their is some sort of personal expectation to have those “sneaks”. PRESSURE IF YOU WILL).

They put themselves in that dark lonely place.
You are simply, reminding them, and offering an out. You are about to hang up the phone, and all of a sudden they are lonely again.

A decision needs to be made…….ITS A YES….Congratulations, they closed :)

Then you need to do a little research! go to MSN Top Searches

Look at what is being searched on the most, and look for resources that match those searches, you can paraphrase those resources or simply copy and paste, (given they grant permission) giving all credit to the owners of the copy!

Find Rss. Feeds to add to your blog in reference to the top searches. Give it a few days while continuously adding more and more content. You will find your blog on the search engines ranked pretty high for these unique search engine terms, and will constantly update as long as you contribute. The amount of individuals you bring to your page is solely based on the key terms and how much you blog.

On each blog you want to paste your newly created banner (linked obviously) on each page and every 3rd post. This will create the brand recognition and the clicks needed to send traffic to your site.

I myself have generated over 115,000 unique page views a day using these techniques, and this often lead to a horde of leads that I would say 65% went to waste simply because I couldn’t keep up.
