Lifepath Unlimited – you must Fail Before You Succeed….Well Not Really!

OK so I am an old man with lots of wisdom, actually just 27 with the world in front of me, I am successful as a marketer, a salesman, a dog owner, but according to my auto insurance I am an at risk driver (too many damn speeding tickets) I live life on the edge, I live it fast, I’m dynamic, I’m super cool, and if you ever meet me I’ll show you how to get to sesame street, why because I AM ALL KNOWLEDGEABLE! but that is not all, I slice and dice and teach your kids nursery rhymes.

Did you just enjoy reading that last paragraph ? cool I wanted you to, I wanted to hook you before I drag you deep into the bottomless ocean of boredom. It’s called an education! That’s where I got my super cool knowledge from. You see an education helps you think outside the box, helps you spin those creative juices, and concoct super cool ways to market, and even better an education teaches you that you obviously DON’T KNOW SHIT, hell I still don’t know a damn thing, and thats how I like it, it motivates me, like a chameleon keeping up with all the colors of a psychedelic Tye dye shirt, GROOVY MAN! I frown at proven systems, and cookie cutter scripts. I believe in having fun at all times, I believe in individuality…………………..OMG did he just say the indi-vi-vi-vi-vidual word ? I sure fucking did and I am nasty about it, yes my language is foul but you’re still reading aren’t ya ? I believe all businesses are created equal, BUT PEOPLE ARE NOT. Some are dumb, some dumber, others are wickedly dumbest, but if you are bold enough to categorize yourself as one of the three congrats you have just taken the first step in becoming a smart guy, and smart guys finish last………whoa let me rephrase that……..dumb guys go out of business first, smart guys go out of business later…..WHEN THEY CHOOSE TO, AFTER THEIR POCKETS got stretch marks from all that cash…..

The lesson begins NOW

Traditional Selling entails the use of sales “scripts” that are both awkward and unnatural.  You probably know them all – dozens of memorized closes, questions rigged with “tie-down” lines that trick the prospect into saying “yes,” etc.  This traditional selling sequence is contrived, and goes against the natural flow of the prospect.  And even when customers buy as a result of these high-pressure tactics, it’s not because they want the product but because they are cornered or intimidated into the sale.  I don’t know about you, but this sales model makes me feel like a con artist after I make a sale.

Selling With the Use of Triggers:  When you “get into the mind” of your prospect, the sales process becomes a matter of just pushing the right buttons – or more precisely, the right triggers.  Since you’re going with your prospect’s natural flow, and using a selling sequence to which your prospect is naturally inclined, you eliminate any resistance.  Selling couldn’t be easier.

Trigger 1 : Consistency, yes yes and yes……………………….

ever been to a car dealership ? picked the car, got approved for finance, seems rather vanilla, sign the agreement and tadaa you are a new car owner. I will purposely omit the true haggle of car buying for this example. I like buying cars and I like buying cash, I go with a fixed amount and know what I am spending. This allows me to fall into the yes no no mode. That’s why they say cash buyers have more power. But the dealerships love when you finance because they can get you into the YES YES YES mode. How so ? well they shop for the best rate (YEAH RIGHT) say they are working hard to get you approved. The finance manager closes the door and gets to work. Actually it only takes him 10 minutes to get favorable terms and conditions, the remaining 45 minutes he is sipping coffee and chatting on facebook to the other finance manager saying yup TOD WE GOT ANOTHER ONE.

After an hour long wait, you are approved, no money down and 35K, are you comfortable with the monthly payments the sale’s rep asks. Most of the time the buyer says “YES” omg he said “YES”, then they have you agree and sign the offer. You shake the car salesman’s hand and they get the car ready, NOW YOU GO INTO THE FINANCE OFFICER’s ROOM, he is more of a saleman than a true number cruncher. Now come’s the add-ons, wait weren’t you approved for just 35K nope in reality it was 37K but they will cover that 2K spread really quickly.

this is how it works ? you gave them a yes to the big purchase, to the car. As humans we tend to act consistently it is a phenomenon due to conditions of growing up….. consistently do good in school, work, in bed ????? yeah you get the picture. The finance guy puts a sheet in front of you, would you like GAP insurance ? it’s only 6 bucks a month extra you answer “YES” and how about clear coat protection for the paint. “YES”, finally for just $13.00 more a month we can get you all season tires and floor mats…….OMG “YES” what a deal……..oh bout 2k worth of extras that adds no value to the car but certainly does to the dealerships bottom line……………………..after you drive off the lot, later that day, and sometimes later that week or month, you say “OH NO” those 2k in extras will cost you an additional 750 bux in financing WHATTTTTTT ? stupid stupid stupid……YES YES YES

So how do you approach the prospect when presenting the business ? Get a yes out of them as soon as possible.

Something like …….. So are you really looking for a way to better the lives of you and your family ? , you will GET YOUR FIRST YES THEN, the rest is cake.

Try something like:

If the right opportunity presented itself would you be willing to get started right away ? “YES”

The power of yes is incredible and you can take that all the way up to “would you attend our company overview webinar” ……”yes, sure why not”

You have psychologically triggered consistent behavior.

PRODUCT NATURE

OK OK one more ramble…………………………..this trigger is called Product Nature.

If you don’t understand the nature of the product you are selling, you won’t effectively sell it. Every product has a unique nature to it—a unique way of relating itself to the consumer. If you understand this nature and find the way to best relate the product to your prospect,
you’ll hold the key to a successful network marketing program.

So what is the unique nature of the Discovery program ? I will leave that to open forum discussion…….post comments on what you think that unique nature of the Discovery product should be.

But i love to use cars as an example as I love em own a couple of them.

A Ferrari has the unique nature of safety…….uhhhhhh what ? Wrong nature.

Hyundai has the unique nature of driving fast ……..uhhhhh wrong again

GM vehicles have the unique nature of DEPENDABILITY , nope

Kia is the economy car…….DING DING DING, Yup Yup Yup

The current state of the American Auto Industry, is simply put this way, GM and Chrysler lost it’s Identity. Cadillac lost it’s unique nature, how could a  Chrysler – Dodge forget about American muscle. and became THE MINIVAN…….

But their is a caveat here and a spin on this lesson. What is the unique nature of THE LIFEPATH UNLIMITED REP ? as that gets drawn into the mix

Lifepath Unlimited – Plan B Leads, or any leads mean NOTHING!

UNLESS…..

Leads of great quality is vital to any business, but a salesman of great quality is just as important.

In the past week I suffered a personal blow to the family, without getting into too much detail the highest professional opinion and remedy money could buy “outside of God and prayer” was needed, the doctor required a skill, but not just a skill, THE HIGHEST SKILL. A Neuro-Surgeon competent enough to manage what happens every 40 seconds in America. A Stroke !

Now have you ever been to a docs office and see nothing but certificates, diplomas, degrees, and books abound in amazing disorder that the only thing you can think of is “MAD SCIENTIST” , these credentials, create a sense of trust in the skilled butchers array of skill, saturation of knowledge, and ultimately the liability of caring for a loved one.

The doctor aka sales man sold me on two things, the person I LOVED, my mom, and his ability to maintain a quality of life for her.

THOSE TWO THINGS sold me to take action

Now as a lifepath rep you may be getting countless individuals who say well I don’t have the money, or individuals who say I don’t know. Trust me it’s not them, ITS YOU.

Mediocrity was not good enough when it came to my mother, from the mediocre health plan all the way to the mediocre practitioner.

It is also not good enough for your prospects when you are propositioning they part with $1700 – $25000.

You need to be the Authority.

I AM NOT GOING TO BORE YOU WITH THEORY………….

When a specific Buyer Belief is missing or weak, it causes an objection.

Common Sales Objections

The obvious starting point is to think through what the objections will be by brainstorming. Common objections to any sale would be:

  • Price/Value/Cost – The price is too high against the perceived value or what happens if I spend all this money and don’t get value? I can buy many other self help books with this, why spend it on your business opportunity?
  • Time/Logistics – How is it delivered? How many hours a day must I allocate to become successful ?
  • Credibility/Trust – The opportunity seems right, just don’t trust you to deliver.
  • Politics – Does the discovery series infringe on any religious doctrine ?
  • Knowledge – I don’t know enough about this stuff! Is this true or are you BS’ing me?

Price is the famous one, but is surprisingly one of the easiest to overcome. In fact most objections come down to risk. Do not underestimate the fear of looking foolish, that is a big risk also for the decision maker.

Remove Risk

As risk is a huge issue in objections, it is good to have “introductory” or “sample” products where you can demonstrate your value and reliability. This is where the affiliate fee comes in, Instead of losing a prospect because they don’t “have” yes I put “have” in qoutes because most will find a way to HAVE. especially after tax returns :)

By allowing all your prospects to simply join up at the affiliate level, puts less pressure on the big purchase and less stress on the salesman, once the prospect is in the organization, community, you will see the want factor increase alongside level of commitment, thus it is easier to aggregate the sale on the terms of the prospect, and have built value, and reliability, as a leader. I mean who just gives away 1700 bucks ? THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SECOND.

Remove financial risk with a guarantee. Guarantees can also remove some of the internal reputation risk for the customer, although again credibility has a big part to play here also, this is why LIFEPATH UNLIMITED has one implemented. USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

The sneaky way to create a solution to overcome an objection is to talk through with customers what might make them happier in their decision . You won’t implement all their suggestions but it might give you some unique ideas.

Six Steps to Handling Sales Objections…….“talk through with customers”

Here are six steps for handling objections or addressing concerns that almost always work in your favor. They also work pretty well in diffusing unusually tense situations, so heed them well.

Step #1: Hear them out

When someone trusts you enough to tell you what’s bothering him, do him the courtesy of listening. Don’t be quick to address every phrase he utters. Give him time; encourage him to tell you the whole story behind his concern. If you don’t get the whole story, you won’t know what to do or say to change his feelings. Don’t interrupt either, because you may jump in and answer the wrong concern.

Step #2: Feed it back

By rephrasing what his concerns are, you’re in effect asking for even more information. You want to be certain that he’s aired it all so that no other concerns crop up after you’ve handled this one. You’re saying to him, Go ahead. Lay it all on me. Get it off your chest. In doing this, you’re asking him to trust you.

Step #3: Question it

This step is where subtlety and tact come into play. If a guy objects to the fact that you are stating the home business industry is a profitable and lucrative business even in harsh economic times, don’t say, What’s wrong with that idea? Instead, gently ask, does the idea of starting your own business make you uncomfortable? If it does, he’ll tell you why. Maybe he’s shy. If so, you have to build his confidence in the potential and his ability to thoroughly care for his family.

Step #4: Answer it

After you’re confident that you have whole story behind his concern, you can answer that concern with confidence.

Step #5: Confirm your answer

After you’ve answered the objection, it’s important that you confirm that he heard and accepted your answer. If you don’t complete this step, the other person very likely will raise that objection again, For example we all have heard the question. “So how much money have you made ?”

Answer this question with caution, there are many 30K plus a month earners in this company, however that dollar amount may prove overwhelming, and beyond the individuals scope of comprehension. You answer simply with enough to provide my family with the same resources you are looking to provide yours with.

You can confirm your answers simply by completing your answer with a statement such as, That answers that concern, doesn’t it, Bob? If he agrees with you that, your comment answered his concern, then you’re one step closer to persuading him. If he isn’t satisfied with your answer, now is the time to know  by simply saying “Well Bob how much would you like to make, after all my business is still growing, and I am content with the amount of money I am making, it suffices for me and my family and meets our objectives” (kids education, medical bills, mortgage, YADA YADA, validate that your income provides a better life for your family)

Step #6: By the way . . .

Know those three words. They’re three of the most useful words in any attempt to persuade or convince another person.

You use the phrase to change gears — to move on to the next topic. Don’t just keep talking. Take a conscious, purposeful step back into your presentation. Point to something other than whatever generated the objection. Take some sort of action that signals to the other person that you’re forging ahead.

These six steps, if you learn them and apply them properly, will take you a long way toward achieving your goal of selling others even when they raise objections or concerns.

Sometimes you’ll hear more than one objection or concern. If you start running through all six steps with each objection you hear, you can spend a lifetime trying to persuade these people. Experience helps you tell which concerns you need to address and which you may be able to bypass.

Summary

Overcoming objections means making a case where you answer questions before they are thought of. While many people do not like long sales pages, like the landing page Most Lifepath Unlimited reps have, many of us love to have informed and detailed conversations.

Next time you are considering a purchase, list all the things you are thinking about and any concerns you have, some of them might well be applicable to your own business. Also, next time you are “just looking”, think about why you are not in the market and what would put you from looking into buying mode.

Sales is all about psychology

just like the doctor who cared for my mother. YOU NEED TO EARN THAT DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY SALES, embrace your roll as a life long learner, and the faster you realize the objection has little to do with the prospects limited knowledge but everything to do with your inability to effectively convey and demonsrate YOUR KNOWLEDGE, in HELPING THEM.

Lifepath Unlimited – The FOLLOW-Up Call

You know I have put so much emphasis on lead generation, because professionally that is what I do, and do best.
