So everyone asks me this question. How do I approach marketing ? Well my answer is simply “Elementary My Dear Watson!”

You see I find a lot of marketers over complicate their marketing, jumping from one marketing platform or co-op to another. These marketers lack patience in allowing any one marketing method to manifest itself. I also find that the expectation of the marketer to be inconsistent with their own abilities. Here’s what I mean:

You generate leads or participate in a co-op (bad thing to do), You then get the lead on the horn, and what the hell do you say ? I have tested many marketers in their ability to adequately communicate, and the results are startling.

Advice No #1:

Record yourself on your presentation or initial follow up, then ask yourself WOULD YOU BUY FROM YOU ? I teach the methods of selling through questioning. Sounds simple right ? It’s Elementary My Dear Watson.

If you see you are talking through more than 50% of the call, you are doing it ALL WRONG. Recording yourself is key in providing this evidence you see, people don’t join opportunities because YOU TALKED THEM TO DEATH, they join because you CONNECTED. Connecting is important. Now the connection is not from sponsor to prospect but the other way around. PROSPECT TO SPONSOR connections are powerful, this means that the SPONSOR is asking only questions that would allow the PROSPECT TO OPEN UP, and when the prospect opens up to these questions, THEY ARE TALKING, and if they are TALKING, THEY ARE CONNECTING. The art of selling is by becoming an effective LISTENER not talking. Lets see it in ACTION.

Lets Use the Car Salesman example:

IMPORTANT QUESTIONS.

2 door or 4 door ?

Color ?

sedan or SUV ?

Monthly Payment Comfortable With ?

Now lets take these questions and make a conversation out of it USING MORE QUESTIONS.

2 door or 4 door ?

(4 door) —> Do you have a family ?

Do you have a family ? —> Are you looking for something with a high safety rating ?

Are you looking for something with a high safety rating ? —>How long is your commute to work ?

How long is your commute to work ? —> How many miles per gallon are you looking for ?

Do you see how questions can be incorporated to conversation ? The customer will be doing most of the talking. The customer will be opening up, the customer will feel like your have their best interest at heart. The customer has built a sense of trust and credibility with you.

Now this is just an example.

What you need to do now is write down 5 core questions related to your business, or prospects intent. Those 5 core questions can then be broken into sub groups with more questions related to the 5 core questions. What you now have is an arsenal of questions that incorporate your prospect, and encourages them to talk, and ultimately connect. Whats more important is that you do not come across as sale-sy, but more prospect-centric, and when you listen to the call (assuming you record it as well) you will find yourself talking less, but connecting MORE !!!!!!!
